Protecting our environment is something that everyone in our community needs to do. At Taylors we focus on doing everything we can to ensure that we are minimising the impact of our operations, while they’re in progress and once they’re completed.

People

Our dedicated environmental services team is a growing area of our business and is currently being deployed in subdivision work and at civil construction sites. We are building our capability in this exciting operational area.

Equipment

We have been acquiring specialised equipment over recent years to support our environmental services work. One example is our hay blower which we use to disperse seed and create ground cover. This ground cover then intercepts rain before it hits the soil and reduced run off into water courses.

Products

There are new products being developed all the time that have applications within our environmental services work programme and we are always interested in hearing about new innovations or collaborating with innovators to develop new solutions. Some examples of products we use currently are seed impregnated mulch and polymer which we spray across soil so that it sticks together and acts as a dust suppressant. Native tree planting to support riverbank protection is also an important part of our work.

Taylors Contracting pursue knowledge and practices that lead to more environmentally friendly and ecologically responsible decisions, which helps protect the environment and sustain its natural resources for current and future generations. We plan for and are committed to, protecting the environment and will proactively minimise adverse effects of our activities or endeavour to leave it better than we found it.

We have recently set up a dedicated Environmental Business Unit, employed an Environmental Advisor and have an in-house Environmental Committee to ensure our objectives are being met.

Since implementing these new environmental initiatives we have received the 2019 Civil Contractors Nelson Marlborough Environmental Award and the 2019 Top of the South Forestry Environmental Excellence Award.
