Civil Construction

Why Choose Taylors

We provide a complete package from start to finish. As a larger company we are able to undertake a broad range of work. Our work includes anything from subdivisions to providing the whole package from the consenting process, and start up, earthworks, and environmental protection through to civil construction, drainage, and roading.

People

In addition to our core group of engineers we have an in-house surveying team and in-house project managers. This means we give our clients the peace of mind that a project will be managed appropriately from beginning to end.

Equipment

Technology has transformed contracting and Taylors Contracting are known as an industry leader in terms of our early adoption and use of innovative technology. This has been supported by our director Arthur Taylor’s long association with Trimble. We are able to work with precision using our GPS and drone technology. This allows us to build projects to design.

The work we do

We provide the full range of civil works including drainage works, land contouring, and dam and pond building. We work on major, complex projects and smaller scale projects. Over the past 10 years we have developed our work on subdivisions. We often work with our clients to prepare what is required in terms of scheduling. We look at all of the risks involved with a project, whether it it is a lump sum contract, or a measure and value contract. We can work in several different ways with clients to find a process and solution that works for them. We also manage the quality and health and safety aspects of the projects we are involved in.

Many of our projects have received industry awards, including the Seafield Terrace project in Nelson and our work to date on the Waimea Community Dam. Longstanding clients include the Nelson City Council, Tasman District Council, Central Plains Water, Canterbury Waste Services, and NZTA.

Locations

We work around the South Island and have offices in Brightwater, near Nelson and Christchurch. Major projects undertaken from Christchurch include the Southern Motorway, Western Belfast bypass, Christchurch Northern Corridor, Tekapō Canals, and Central Plains Irrigation Scheme. We are also providing earthworks services for the Kate Valley Landfill, the biggest landfill in the South Island. Current major projects undertaken from our Brightwater headquarters include the Waimea Community Dam.
