Last week the concrete face at the Waimea Community Dam was completed. This is a very significant milestone for the project and for Dam construction in New Zealand and this is only the third time that a concrete face dam has been constructed in New Zealand and only the second time a concrete face has been slip formed by this method. The last time a concrete face was slip formed was in the 1970s at the Logan Burn Reservoir in Otago.
