Quarry Department Manager (Permanent Full-time, Nelson)

Taylors’ quarry is an integral part of the wider organisation, providing material both internally and externally. We are looking for a person who has excellent management skills and has a passion for leading a strong team to further success.

You will be joining a team of nine, who have an excellent team culture and hold a vast range of experience.

Taylors own two quarries with a range of hard rock and alluvial material and support several other quarries across the South Island.

As a Quarry Manager at Taylors, you will need:

  • A tertiary or diploma qualification in engineering, geology or similar
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety requirements in the industry
  • To be adept in technology, computers, and systems
  • To build and maintain relationships with existing and new clients
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills

You will be responsible for

  • All forward planning work and consenting
  • Financial reporting

Backhoe Operator (Permanent Full-Time, Nelson)

Due to the promotion of our current Backhoe Operator, we are looking for an operator for our new Caterpillar Backhoe machine. This is the top-of-the-line Caterpillar 444 F2 Backhoe loader with an operating weight of 10 tonnes, rated at 95 hp and packed with the latest technology. It’s an excellent and versatile machine with plenty of work ahead of it.

Take charge of this role and your machinery and we will reward you accordingly! In this role, you will be primarily operating the backhoe loader machine in our Forestry Division. The work will be varied and interesting getting you across the region.

About you! You will have experience in a civil, forestry, or farming environment and experience operating Class 2 machinery. With a strong focus on safety, quality, and environmental, you will carry out tasks such as general forestry road maintenance and clearing out slips, water tables, and culverts, assisting with construction and general works.

Backhoe experience is not essential. If you’ve got excavator, tractor, or other machine experience and want to grow or are looking for a new and interesting role give us a call.

Young or mature we are prepared to train and support the right person if you think you’ve got what it takes to make this role yours.

You’ll bring with you:

  • A Class 2 Drivers License with a WTR endorsement
  • A positive outlook, friendly attitude, and willingness to adapt to the work as and where required
