Family-owned business Taylors Contracting has released a new book about its history called “The Taylors Way” after level 4 COVID-19 restrictions delayed its official 50th anniversary celebration in August.

Taylors Contracting has grown from a small forestry-focused business established by Marlene Taylor and the late Bob Taylor, to an employer of more than 170 staff and subcontractors working in locations around the South Island to provide earthmoving, civil engineering construction, and quarry services. It also continues to provide services for the forestry sector.

Earlier this year its amazing contribution to the Nelson Tasman and Marlborough regions was acknowledged at the Top of the South Forestry Awards where Taylors Contracting was given a special award for its long service to the forestry industry.

This month the business was highly commended by the Australasian Chapter of the International Erosion Control Association (IECA) in the project or operation of any value category in the IECA Australasia’s Environmental Excellence Awards for its joint venture project with Fulton Hogan on the Waimea Community Dam.

While Taylors Contracting’s official 50th anniversary celebration has been deferred to August 2022, the Taylor family are keen to share the book which was  written and published  by Carol Dawber of River Press.

“We are so grateful to all the people who have worked for and with us over the years, many of whom have been with us for a long time and given very dedicated service to our business and the businesses we work for. We want to make sure they and others have an opportunity to get a copy of the book in their hands before Christmas so they can enjoy it over the holidays,” says Charlie Taylor, CEO of Taylors Contracting and son of Bob and Marlene Taylor.

“I know that Dad would have been very proud of the work that our people do every day and the contribution that Mum and my brothers Matt and Arthur have made over the years and continue to make. Continuing that legacy of honest hard work and good business values is very important to us all.”

Copies of the “The Taylors Way” are available for $49.95 from all good bookshops or they can be ordered by filling out the contact form on the Taylor’s Contracting website. People can also buy a book by calling into the Taylors Contracting head office, however please note that there is no EFTPOS on site.
