A joint venture project on the Waimea Community Dam has been praised at the recently announced International Erosion Control Association (IECA) Australasia Environmental Excellence Awards.

Taylors Contracting and Fulton Hogan received a Highly Commended by the Australasian Chapter of IECA in the project or operation of any value category.

The judges commented that the Waimea Community Dam joint venture project was a “well designed and managed, innovative, large-scale project in (a) very challenging environment”.

Taylors Contracting CEO Charlie Taylor says that the award recognises the care they take to protect and enhance the environment and the innovation shown to tackle the particular challenges presented by the Lee Valley location.

“We are very proud of our team for all their hard work,” says Charlie. “We know that there is a high level of public interest in this project and we hope that acknowledgement like this will help to reassure the community that this project is in good hands.”

The awards were established in 1995 with the aim of raising the standards of the erosion and sediment control industry by celebrating innovation and outstanding achievement.
